Rebels complete their line up.....for the third time !!

The Rebels have announced their replacement for the absent Tom Hedley, and have completed their line up.........for the third time !!

The young man in the hot seat is the 24 year old German rider, Henning Loof. For those of you who read the BSF, Henning will probably be no stranger to you, due to his well publicised attempts to have his average reduced to a more reasonable figure, following just two outings (and as a junior I believe) in the Danish Elite League several years ago.

He has carried on a protracted battle to get his average reduced, since his first attempt to break into British Speedway ended abruptly with the BSPA refusing to lower the 8 point average to 5, in order to facilitate his inclusion in the Newcastle Diamond 1 to 7 two or three years ago. This time the Speedway authorities were more amenable, probably in the wake of the reduction handed out to Norbert Magosi, which probably had less going for it than Henning's situation does.

I'm sure that Henning will get a warm welcome from the Oak Tree faithful, and with a bit of patience could prove to be a valuable member of the team in the months to come. He has shown great persistence over the last couple of years in his quest to gain a reduction, and I am sure that that kind of resolution will stand him in good stead when it comes to being the 'new Rebel on the block'.

Here are a few videos of the man in action, the first two from Germany, and the third is a nasty tumble he took at Mildenhall recently.

This Friday sees Press & Practice day at the OTA, and will be an opportunity for Henning to show what he can do, and I know he is looking forward to it. It is also hoped that Jason Doyle will have overcome the problems that have beset the Southern Hemisphere riders of late. The authorities have not allowed riders to travel back to the UK, without having the new Biometric fingerprint & iris recognition test done, and this has delayed the return of many Australian & New Zealand riders to these shores. Promoter Mike Golding is hopeful that Jason will return in time after being told that his test have been completed.

For anyone wishing to attend the Press & Practice session it will start at 4:00pm for members of the press & season ticket holders, followed by a photo session at 5:30pm, and the riders will take to the track at 6:00pm for a spin round.

Following this there will be a disco at the club house (cost £3.00 on the door) with proceeds going to the Riders Equipment Fund, and the proceeds of the raffle going to the Ritchie Hawkins fund.

See You All There
